9 Days until we leave!

There are only 9 days until our flight leaves for Texas City, TX, and we are all getting very excited! At our last meeting on Monday, we got most everything planned out, including how we're all getting to the airport by 4 am on Saturday!

We found out that there is internet at the church we will be staying at, so our blog will definitely be updated each and every day of the trip! So make sure to check back every day to see the newest pictures, reflections, and stories from everyone on the trip. We might even be able to put up some video clips from our trip as well.

UCC UConn wishes to thank everyone who attended our Valentine's Themed Fundraising Dinner and Silent Auction this past Saturday, Feb 20th (as well as those students who attended out Valentine's Day Fundraising Dinner on the 14th). Between the Dinner, Silent Auction, and donations collected at both dinners, we were able to raise over $5000 for our ASB Trip to Texas City, TX!

We are happy to announce that we have reached our fundraising goal of $12,000, and are now all set for our trip to help with Hurricane Ike relief!

VALENTINE'S THEMED FUNDRAISING DINNER & SILENT AUCTION

UCC UConn is hosting our 5th Annual Valentine's Themed Fundraising Dinner & Silent Auction to raise funds for our Alternative Spring Break trip to Texas City, TX to help with Hurricane Ike Relief.

This Elegant Four-Course Dinner includes:
- Fresh Fruit Cup
- Exotic Greens with Dressing
- Choice of Surf & Turf (Beef Roulade and Salmon) or Stuffed Portabella Mushroom
- Choice of Dark Chocolate Torte or Carrot Cake

The dinner is on Saturday, February 20th, 2010 with two seating times 5:00pm and 7:30pm. It is held at the Storrs Congregational Church Parish House.

Tickets are $20.00 per person, $18.00 for seniors. Takeout ($18.00) and Child Care ($5.00) are also available at both dinners! The Child Care includes a Macaroni and Cheese dinner.

Live Musical Entertainment will accompany both dinners, which is provided by two UConn A Capella groups (Extreme Measures at the 5:00 dinner and Rolling Tones at the 7:30 dinner)

The dinner is professionally prepared by trained and certified chefs!

Tickets MUST be purchased or reserved IN ADVANCE, and can be done so one of three ways:

When ordering, please let us know which entree and dessert choice each person would like.

We can seat any sized group, from a romantic table for 2 to a fun group of 20! Make sure to order your tickets early, as we have a limited amount of tickets available! Tickets WILL NOT be available for purchase at the door. Tickets reserved beforehand can be picked up and paid for at the door. We accept cash or check.

The silent auction includes many items, including Sporting Events & Items (including NY Yankees, Bridgeport Bluefish, and Springfield Falcons tickets, as well as autographed items from the Bruins and NY Red Bulls), Entertainment Items (including Gift Certificates to many Theatres/Shows around Connecticut), Gift Certificates to Restaurants, Stores, and Hair Salons, and Much, Much More! Another post on this blog later next will list a complete list of what will be available in the Silent Auction.

Our flights have been books and our cars reserved, so were almost set! We still have a bunch of fundraising left to do to finish covering funds for the trip, but we are all very excited about the upcoming trip, which is about a month away!
